The Story of Jonah
The story of Jonah told like you’ve never heard it.

I’m so happy to have my parents staying with us for four weeks. They came to watch some high school basketball! (Off to Lubbock tonight.) Dad is transferring old slides to digital photos, and I came across a couple old ones I’d never seen. We’ve laughed that in most pictures of me as a little boy I seem to have a gun in my hand (along with holster, boots, cowboy hat, and either stick horse or real pony).
These are from “our early years.” They married at 19 and had me 11 months later. So “we” were students at the University of Texas together. Here are a couple I treasure (the first from Missouri, the second from Austin):

A ship ready to shail far across the shee. This is wonderful!
If you’ll follow the other Vimeo videos of that church, I think you can make the case for women preachers. At least, in this instance, for allowing one young female to do ALL the preaching!
I nominate for Best Preacher in America.
I want to preach like her when I grow up. ^_^
So do I, Q, so do I!
From about 2:00 on, it’s maybe the best sermon I’ve ever heard.
There is nothing more precious than hearing the sweet voices of children when their words give truth to life. Check out 2 year old Clara on youtube saying the 23rd Psalm.
A powerful message from a very talented little lady!
I finally watched it – worth the wait! Mike – Highland produced a children’s dvd with similar stories a couple of years ago? – it was excellent.
Mike, I love the photo of your mom! She is an incredible lady….I love seeing her in that photo….ready for the future and so beautiful but knowing her….not what she valued. So much in that one photo….I love how pictures can tell us about people.
Manny?
Very funny, my dear niece. This one doesn’t look as much like Manny as the one with the BIG BIBLE!
Mike, that photograph of your mother is amazing, and she is an absolutely beautiful woman! Thanks for sharing!
Oh, Mike – your mom is so beautiful and it seems has been all her life, if the photo in Austin is any example of her earlier years. In it is she considering all that will come to her as she goes down this path of life? Could she have had even a hint of the gifted son she birthed? Or maybe how much she would love a grand daughter who left her life 17 years ago, but never has left her heart? Or it could be the joy of a great grandchild carrying her name on into the future. I pray that sweet newly arrived babe child will also carry the grace of her great grandmother with her throughout life.
The picture of your dad is so similar to one of my dad with my brother, kneeling in the same fashion with Bob at his side. I pray for your dad, knowing his battle – my beloved dad fought the same one.
And, dear Mike, I’m so thankful the loving LORD has graced you with such wonderful parents, who in turn gave us the loved preacher/pastor-teacher/friend that you are to us.
Man, she really got into it!
One of the most amazing preachers I have ever heard!! Such passion!! I hope no one ever tells her to stop, and just encourages her as she gets older…
Love the pictures-how beautiful!!
Hello. I was wondering if there was a way to download this video to show on our powerpoint at church. It is just wonderful! I have shared it with all my friends and family who have internet access but so many in our church do not have it. Thanks!
Kathy
Hello, Kathy. Yes, there is a plug-in on Firefox that will allow you to download it. (There are other ways as well, but I think this is the easiest.) Are you pretty tech savvy? If not, find someone who’s about 20!
that little girl is totally adorable and obviously talented. She reminds me so much of Shirley Temple.
Of course, I can disagree with some of the doctrinal points but that’s me!
