Kissing Camels
My father instilled in me a love for Colorado . . . and specifically for Colorado Springs (where he lived for a while as a teenager) . . . and specifically for Garden of the Gods . . . and specifically for the Kissing Camels. One of my favorite family pictures is of my dad reaching the top of the camels after free climbing with his older brothers when he was fourteen. Many times I’ve circled the whole structure, trying to figure out how they got up. Or, more precisely, how they got down!
Here are a few pictures I snapped on my iPhone this morning while running.

I’ve been wanting to buy a real camera (probably a Nikon or Canon) before Chris’s last basketball season begins. Wish I’d had it this morning! There was a full moon, a perfectly lit Pike’s Peak, bighorn sheep, deer, rabbits, chipmunks, etc. The only thing missing was oxygen. Apparently you have to bring your own.
That’s down toward Buffalo Gap, isn’t it?
Sweet. That really IS an amazing spot.
That’s exactly where it is, Steve!
Mike, talk to Jana about her camera.
Check out Pentax cameras. I just bought a K-x, and love it.
Kind of hard to go wrong with Canon or Nikon… I currently have a Nikon D90 and have taken over 50,000 photos with it the last two years. Greg Kendall-Ball would be a great one to talk to, as well!
