Tidbits

Uninteresting tidbits about me:

1. When I’m asked, “What kind of food do you like?” it’s hard to answer. I like all foods except for: turnips, beets, mayonnaise, and stuff with a lot of curry.

2. My acrophobia is weird. If God made it, I’m fine. If people made it, I have problems. Stand on the edge of Grand Canyon? I’m good. Stand on the edge of a tall building? I’m not good. Walking across the Royal Gorge? I may cry. Riding tall roller coasters? Not a problem. I’m an adult and no one can make me.

3. I’ve never been to Idaho or Montana. I think the other 48 are covered.

4. I’m Randy Harris’s ride at the airport in two minutes. Gotta go.

What are some personal tidbits from you?

That is so cool that you have been to all but 2 states in the U.S. I could count all the states I have been to on all my fingers I think. No real interesting or uninteresting tidbits to share except that I am ready for school to start up again….I miss all the studying ; )

    1. I’m not afraid of heights. Dangle me over the Sears Tower and I’m fine. I’m scared to death of depths. Do not ask me to get in water over my head. Submarine? Unimaginable.

    2. I still do not like the consistency of mashed potatoes. Bake them, boil them, fry them — just do not give them to me mashed.

    3. I still have my baptismal certificate. You laugh — but how many of you can actually still produce proof? (I’m not suggesting that God is impressed. It just falls under the “tidbits” category.)

    1. I never remember brushing my teeth with anything but Colgate.

    2. I never remember missing communion on a Sunday.

    3. I have a bad memory.

I live in Arkansas, and do not like fried okra, watermelon, sweet tea, or tomatoes. Pretty soon they’re going to kick me out.

    1. My sharpest memory is sports (shocking I know), and I do best with entire starting line-ups from the 1970′s. Not great with individual sports stats at all.

    2. One of my strongest memory triggers is smell.

    3. I have not eaten home-made fried chicken in probably 10 years, and still love it. Who cooks fried chicken anymore? Was it really that bad for us?

    Tidbits:

I am a major Denver Broncos fan!

Ich spreche Deutsch. Ich wohnte 2 Jahre in Oesterreich u. 4 Jahre in Deutschland.

I love sheepies! I just absolutely love them in all forms. I have sheepies at my desk at work, and at home, all reminding me that I am a sheepie, too. The concept of Jesus being the shepherd who takes care of me in my deepest need just overwhelms my heart. My first sheepie was one that one of my guys when he was little found on the sidewalk – small, pink, fluffy, a little bit worn and smudged. It needed someone to rescue it, just as I had needed rescue by my Lord. When I asked what its name should be, my two little guys responded in unison, “Sheepie!” It made perfect sense and so most of the sheepies I have been given since that day bear the same name. One exception is the sheepie brought to me from Ireland, whom I named Patrick. It only makes sense.

Do not feel bad, I cannot go on rides at the fair that my five year old girl can. They make me sick all the time.

I love sliced beets right out of the can. I guess we can’t be friends anymore.

    1. I love the Old Spice commercials. For their informational value.

    2. I like skipping Bible class, reading the paper with a cup of coffee, and then going to church in a good mood.

    3. I dislike technology, even as it seems to dislike me. I keep telling it that we can be friends.

You said your tidbits are uninteresting. Regarding #4: I think it would be highly interesting to hear yours & Randy’s conversation in the car going to wherever he was headed….

    Looking forward to the weekend!

I love pulled pork barbecue from Christian County, KY with slaw and a side of burgoo.

I’d rather watch golf than play it.

My favorite music is country from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Nearly all else is not country music.

Can’t do heights, beets, chocolate, upset stomach.

I would rather live in a dump and travel than in a mansion and have to stay at home. I’d rather travel with family.

I am a bit late to the party, but have enjoyed reading everyone’s “tidbits”. Here are mine:

    1. It makes me crazy that people seem to be losing the ability to use the correct form of “they’re, their and there” as well as “your and you’re”. Typing in the wrong word in a hurry doesn’t bother me, but when it’s obvious the writer hasn’t got a clue they’ve consistently used the wrong form I get twitchy. I probably need counseling.

    2. We are about to have three kids attending ACU. I am sad they don’t have some sort of family package deal, but am looking forward to trying out this “empty nest” thing.

    3. Summer in Texas is my favorite time of the year.

    Oh, and…

Mike: I’ve also been to 48 of the 50 states. Still need Alaska and North Dakota.

SLG: I never got a baptismal certificate. I’m seriously out of luck if it’s required. :-)

Kent F: years since I’ve had homemade fried chicken, too.

Deana: I had no idea you could get beets in a can. I remember being served a hamburger with a slice of beet on it in Australia. But I’m with Mike. Yuck.

Angela: Name the coffee shop and I’ll join you.

Steve Sr: Tennessee pulled pork is my favorite. And I’m with you 100% on the travel.

    1. Who decided that it would be a good idea to mix one part raw eggs, one part oil, and some lemon juice, and then blend it into a lubricious emulsion whose vileness is unexceeded by any other comestible?

    2. Who decided that a dollop of the aforementioned vileness would be an appropriate way to “extend” something as sublime as mashed avocado with appropriately understated amounts of minced vegetable? As if!

    3. reJoyce, getting beets in a can is easy if (a) the can has an opening and (b) you carve the beets into small enough chunks.

    helpful qb

Thanks, qb. That’s good to know. ;-P

Your tidbits are fascinating. Worth studying even. Grand Canyon/Tall Roller Coasters–very interesting. Mike Cope Randy Harris in a car to the airport-very interesting….what do you discus? Classic songs or Hebrew texts?
