As one who works with a multiracial church just miles from where Dr. King was killed, I feel every Sunday that I am living out the dream. I am grateful for brave, insightful people who have gone on before so that we ALL can have better lives.

As I listened I could not help but think of Jesus’ words,
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

I’m obviously dating myself, but I listened to this speech, for the first time, live, as it was being delivered at the Lincoln Memorial, August, 1963.
