<i>"Still smile when I think of old Chr Chron editorial that said the partic of women in assembly would bring cleavage to the church." </i>

btw- wasn't it about this time 2 years ago that Chris was baptized? Where, oh where does time fly off to these days????

I'm reading through Mere Christianity right now, and one of the things that smacked me good and hard straight in the forehead is Lewis' idea that there is nothing in this world that is bad in and of itself, but instead, bad is simply good done wrong. Maybe it's the wrong time, maybe it's the wrong way, maybe it's the wrong reason. But "bad" cannot exist by itself. "Bad" has to be set up against "Good", even though "Good" CAN exist by itself.

God hates. Straight up says that in the Bible, like, a bunch of times. So... obviously, then, hate is not actually a bad thing in itself.

It's like Ecclesiastes (and The Byrds) said: To everything there is a season.

It's just constantly blowing my mind how inclusive that "everything" part really is.

That's what reading this made me think of. I enjoyed it. Good stuff.

Mike - Thank you so much for contributing to this book to honor dad. He would be thrilled to know that you are a part of this collection. Reading through your sermon reminds me of how much we miss hearing your words each Sunday. Thank you for the great memories. You mean so much to our family and we love you.

It's funny how I came to Psalms 137---from the plaintive, woeful "On The Willows" from "Godspell" a few years ago. Had to find out where the writer of the musical got the words to write it.....

Thanks Mike for the reminder of what to do with our bitterness. I've learned that God can handle all our emotions and breathe into them the work of his Holy Spirit so we don't stay stuck. God continue to bless you and your work.

This sermon is good even in print. That's hard for a sermon to do. Nice work, and a fine tribute to Prentice's ministry of the Word.

Prentice and I passionately journeyed through 20 years of engaging in providing Christmas to over 900 kids in 10 elementary schools in the metroplex. I learned about the Grace of God, helping people with Aids, reaching out and loving those with a difference lifestyle, learned the meaning of lovng God with all my heart, and I learned intergity, honor and values through his sermons each Sunday at Prestoncrest. Prentice... I miss you so much!!!!

Shalom,
