All right, this one isn’t exactly from May 11, 1978. But I don’t have any wedding pictures digitalized. But it’s close. On this 30th anniversary, we have both boys, our daughter-in-law, and our granddaughter here. That’s a good day! (And, of course, we remember with joy our daughter.)

Wonder if I could buy that shirt off of you? But, then I out weigh you by at least 100 lbs! Happy Anniversary!

    Sideburns. Um, wow.

Happy anniversary to the both of you, but a special happy mother’s day to your lovely bride — who, thank goodness, lacks sideburns.

I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge— because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you.

Love this pic! Congrats on 30! Isn’t it wild to think that the last time someone said that to you was regarding your birthday over TWENTY years ago?! Aaaaggghhh!

I love that this is your 30th anniversary! I love that you found each other and built on that relationship. Your lives together have touched many…including me. That picture is adorable but you are still an adorable couple. There is still so much more to this journey.

I think more of an Elvis/Bruce Springsteen hybrid.

I ain’t as good as I once was
My how the years have flown
But there was a time, back in my prime
When I could really hold my own
But if you wanna fight tonight
Guess those boys don’t look all that tough
I ain’t as good as I once was
But I’m as good once as I ever was”

I used to be hell on wheels
Back when I was a younger man
Now my body says, “You can’t do this boy”
But my pride says, “Oh yes you can”

I ain’t as good as I once was
That’s just the cold hard truth
I still throw a few back, talk a little smack
    When I’m feelin’ bulletproof
So don’t double dog dare me now
‘Cause I’d have to call your bluff

I ain’t as good as I once was
But I’m as good once as I ever was
May not be good as I once was
But I’m as good once as I ever was…

Who would’ve ever thought that being married for 30 years would bring out Toby Keith lyrics? :)

I’m thinking something from 78 would be WAY more appropriate. According to a web site I went to, “Night Fever” by the Bee Gees was the #1 hit on May 11th, 1978. But, let’s go with another 78 song:

    “You’re once……..twice……three times a lady!”
    Commodores

You must have been singing that quite a bit walking between Patti Cobb and the Rhodes Field house.

    CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Love you both,
    DU

Does Diane know this picture is on the internet? :)
You both look the same in the face – I still see the same two wonderful people in those eyes and smiles!

Congrats! Let’s ease up a bit — ‘78 was a tough year. Disco left a lot of rock and rollers searching for a new style.

I can only imagine that, in the 30 years since this picture was taken, Mike has gotten handsomer and Diane has gotten prettier…

But, then, both of those things would be hard to do.

Congratulations to the both of you !!!

    Congratulations!
As far as the hair is concerned, Mike, I rather prefer your current minimalist style to the overabundant locks of yesteryear. Your bride of thirty years is beautiful now as then. But I think the pictures of Diane with her delightful granddaughter are the most beautiful…it must be the joy and pride shining in her eyes

One congratulations right after another…congratulations to Matt on his upcoming graduation!

I remember the day very, very well, Mike and Diane. The one thing I remember is we are standing in the back waiting to go out when Mike suddenly said, “I have to go to the bathroom.” He resisted the urge and everything went off without a hitch. We too will celebrate our 30th this year. Funny, my parents seemed a lot older when they had their 30th.

  27. 2008 May 13

Beautiful picture. Despite all the teasing above, I think it ’speaks’ joy-filled love. Happy Anniversary!

Hey, Steve Sr. — John Sebastian didn’t sing that song, nor did his band, Lovin’ Spoonful. The Turtles did that one. But you’re right — he does bear a striking resemblance to Mr. Sebastian. “What a day for a daydream!”
