The old Seven Wonders of the World were:
Great Pyramid of Giza
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
Colossus of Rhodes
Lighthouse of Alexandria
Last summer the New Seven Wonders of the World were announced. They are:
Great Wall of China
Petra
Christ the Redeemer Statue (Rio de Janeiro)
Machu Picchu
Chichen Itza
Colosseum
Taj Mahal
So . . . based on beautiful things you’ve seen (built by people) . . . what would the 8th wonder of the world be?
We might note that if the things God made were included (Grand Canyon, Everest, Caribbean, etc.) NONE of these would be on the list! But we’re excluding God here as an artist/designer/architect.
Outside of things he made, what would be the 8th wonder?

Wrigley Field.
I’ll probably lose any “smart cred” I’ve ever had right here in admitting that every time I see “Chichen Itza,” I read “Chicken Pizza.”
*ahem*
Which, y’know, COULD be a wonder, if it’s done right…

Masada
The BaHai Temple in Haifa, Israel
The Chunnel, connecting France and England…
The Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California…
The F-22 jet fighter…
Laser-guided bombs…
The city of Washington DC and its monuments.
Budapest - one of the most beautiful cities in Europe
Rome - history just wraps itself around you here.
Vienna - The echo of a musically joyous time, muffled by the great sadness of 1936-1944.
[in case you haven't noted, I'm in love with big, beautiful cities!]

Without a doubt, Boston’s “Big Dig” is the 8th Wonder of the World.
(or will be, when the project officially wraps up)
Start Date: 1982
End Date: ? (they’re still working on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the park that extends the length of where the elevated highway used to cut through downtown Boston)
Workers: more than 5,000 during peak construction
Cost: $14.6 billion. The most costly public works project in the history of humankind.
Result: a few new tunnels, a couple of parks, some extra tolls to pay, and a new state nickname, “Taxachusetts.”
The Mayans and Egyptians ain’t got nuthin’ on us …
Bryant Denny Stadium!!!! Roll Tide followed closely by Walt Disney World
Graceland
The eighth wonder of the world should be the doctrine that the Bible’s all law and God can’t wait for us to mess up on the tiniest misinterpretation so He can send us to flaming destruction forever.
It’s a wonder because of how much whole cloth forms its huge fabric and how many people can see it in scripture even though it ain’t there.
I thought you would have said Reese!
The new list is hardly “new”. While the items on it are newer than the old list they still don’t reflect our world. So I submit one of the most interesting spaces (and I think lovely to look at) that I’ve seen in a while: The Royal Ontario Museum. The ROM is comprised of the old timey traditional museum and the new crystal formed into a single mind bending space. If you want to get a sense of what I am talking about you can see my photo set of the ROM.
The Church on the Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg, Russia-the interior walls are completely covered in magnificant mosaics, and the onion domes on the exterior are whimsically beautiful.
Saved by grace through faith . . . . and Santa Barbara, California.
And amen to Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama! Capacity 92,138

I remember when the Astrodome was the 8th Wonder of the World. Now it’s not fit for high school football games. If Joel O’Steen moves his church to the Astrodome - we should all take notice.
Stonehenge. They dug part of those stones out of the Preseli Hills several hundred miles away from the Salisbury Plain. We’re still not sure how they got them where they got them or how they managed to align them as perfectly as it appears related to the summer and winter solstices. Other stone circles are pretty impressive as well — Avebury for instance.
Sydney Opera House?
Hagia Sophia, Istanbul? (I thought it was more impressive than the Blue Mosque..)
The Hoover Dam! Have you ever watched the Discovery Channel program on the construction of this Dam? Very impressive!

My own backyard and how wonderful it is to sit and contemplate on the beauty of God’s grace!
My backyard was perfect until Hurricane Rita came to visit! I am trying to get it back to its former beauty but since I lost my huge shade tree, I am having to rethink and replant. It changed the whole landscape.
I haven’t traveled much!
I must admit, the interior of the Hagia Sophia is very impressive. The Christian human images are appealing to the Western eye.
Agreeing with Leland: The BaHai headquarters in Haifa, Israel–not the temple proper but the terraced gardens stretching down to Haifa and overlooking the sapphire blue of the Mediterranean.
“The House that Ruth Built” - Yankee Stadium
Peterhof in St. Petersburg, Russia It is the summer palace of Peter the Great with over 200 fountains and amazing architecture.
