So I’ve always been disturbed by that sign “Gently Resisting Change Since 1872″

I’m not getting on to Mike cause I love you too much, but it’s always seemed like a bad idea to start resisting change around 1872.

Anyways, it’s a great place other than that.

Gruene is well within striking distance of Kreuz’ in Lockhart, where the world’s most perfect (*ahem* non-clergyman’s) meal consists of a couple of links, a half-package of saltines, some unpickled Serrano peppers, a slice of onion, a cold dill pickle, and an uber-frosty Sh*ner B*ck.

Or at least that’s the rumor I’ve heard.

When my wife and I lived in Austin, we enjoyed taking day trips to Gruene. It’s a wonderful little town.

I like the town’s motto (”Gently resisting change since 1872″). Not all change is good. Some proposed changes to need resisting - gently. Other proposed changes should be “graciously accepted.” Seems like this might be good double advice for churches, no?

I went to a taping next door to the hall earlier this year. It was some kind of museum. great place to see concerts…bruce robison, kelly willis, eliza gilkyson, reckless kelly…..fun place to jaunt always good to drop over to the Salt Lick afterwards.

Jim - I think it’s the Gruene General Store. And they DO have a bit of everything.

Randy and Pam - We are remembering Jantsen today. Hard to imagine him at the age of 24. What a blessing to our life he was and is.

Mike–Gruene is such a great place! Reading your post makes me want to go back to the Grist Mill and then walk down the street to that little store that seems to have everything. (Can’t remember the name of it–I just recall buying ice cream there on a very hot Texas July day.)
