Cubs-DBacks–Cubs
Indians-Red Sox–Red Sox
Phillies-Cubs–Cubs
Cubs-Red Sox–Red Sox
Go Angels!
I really like you, James. Go Red Sox!
You have every prediction right. Why, oh why aren’t more people picking my Angels though?
And is it just me, or are the best two teams playing a best of 5???
I’m really sorry, Mike, but I’m a little confused. I thought you already predicted the Mets would be in the world series. Are you changing your mind? What sort of crazy events happened that would bring such a radical shift in just over a week’s time? Are you going to give us another prediction next week after the divisional series have been decided? I don’t think this is how predictions are supposed to work, my friend. Smells a bit fishy to me.
Everyone raise a glass to the Cubbies winning it all!
Yankees vs. Indians–Yankees
Red Sox vs. Angels–Red Sox
Rockies vs. Phillies–Phillies
Cubs vs. D’backs–D’backs
Yankees vs. Red Sox–Red Sox
Phillies vs. D’backs–Phillies
Phillies vs. Red Sox–Red Sox
The story of Larry’s encounter is a great read.
Unfortunately, he pollutes himself with gratuitous, rhetorical extrapolations such as (paraphrased), “why do so many people equate being a Christian with being an extremist John Bircher?” By my count in his blog comments on that thread, there was precisely one person who MIGHT fit that description.
(Even that’s a stretch; a better explanation for Chr*s based on the evidence at hand might be simply, “intellectually lazy.”)
And it ain’t the first time LJ has pulled that kind of stunt.
I know, I know, I know…”it’s my blog, and I can post whatever the heck opinions I want to.” Conceded.
I know, I know, I know…”if you only lived and worked where I live and work, you might be able to justify [smearing a whole class of conservative brethren], too, qb!”
*sigh*
Longing for the day we don’t engage each other that way w/in the church,

Red Sox over Yankees
Phillies over Cubs
Red Sox over Phillies
I’m so excited to see what next great horrible crazy “someone else’s fault” event happens to derail the Cubs!
This post profoundly offends me. After reading through the last post on instrumental music I am even more offended. There are now 159 posts over a doctrinal issue – you have to be kidding me? It was my understanding that it’s about relationship and not institution. Is not instrumental music an institutional issue? If that is the case then none of us should have commented on it let alone Mike posting the original post.
What are we coming to? There are millions of people in poverty and hurting in this world!!! Children in China without food. People in Rewanda suffering from genocide and we are talking about baseball??? We are spending money watching baseball??? God help us!
159 posts over instrumental music? If each comment took one minute of each person’s time that is over 2 hours of time not to mention all the money that is required in internet connections, electricity, and computers themselves. I’m sorry but I don’t read anything about how Jesus sat in offices looking at blogs! He was out with the people. Jesus and a relationship with Him and helping the world is all that matters! Not only that, but just think if people actually took the time to read all those posts over an institutional issue. Have we forgotten what it is we stand for?
And Baseball and the World Series? You have to be kidding me. Do we not realize how much collective time has been spent to give predictions about baseball? How much money is spent: on cable or satellite TV for all of us to watch these games, the electricity to power these TVs, the coaches and LAZ Boys to sit on and watch them, the internet connection, computer, electricity to check the stats and see who is winning. What a sad state we have come to. Watching baseball or out bringing people to Jesus? We are watching and spending money on baseball. It is astonishing that we are sacrificing the relationship with Jesus for the institution of baseball.
Baseball or Jesus and we have picked baseball
How sad… How very sad
Ben - That’s below the belt! I made my humble confession on that blog. Ha! Ok. So I made a prediction a little early. Going with the Halos now.
Caleb - You know that “chill pill”? You forgot to take it this morning, friend. Have you thought about how much time you spent looking at these last two blogs and leaving that comment when you could have been helping someone? That’s all right. People were upset at Jesus for the same reason. He partied instead of fasting like John’s disciples. He got away from the crowds to rest when he was worn out. I’m all for radical discipleship. Even seeking to practice it. But that doesn’t take away from playing catch with my son in the front yard or coaching an all-star team to the state playoffs or watching the Angels put it to the Yankees (again!) in the second round of the playoffs. But, alas, many are still wanting John the Baptist rather than Jesus.
Caleb, I don’t know you nor your sense of humor, but I’m choosing to read this as written with tongue firmly stuck in cheek, rather than being a serious critique. After all, how could anyone possibly fault a baseball fan?
Bottom of 5th - Rockies 3 Phillies 0
Now it is Rockies 4 and Phillies 2.
I’ll cheer on the Cubs if it means that poor ol’ Steve Bartman (Cub fan who caught “foul” ball in 2003) will finally be able to check his mailbox in peace and quiet without being constantly harassed by all of northside Chicago!
Caleb, seriously! WWJD? He would probably have played Short and batted 2nd . . . and never worn his cap crooked!
Wade brings up a very valid question. WWJD? Or more appropriately, WWJB (Who Would Jesus Bean)? This is an important question. I suppose I’m leaning more on the humanity side of Jesus, but I have to believe that within the limits of baseball’s unwritten code Jesus would stand up for his teammates and pelt someone in the back with a 95-mph fastball if the situation called for it. I’m not wrong, am I? That whole “turn the other cheek” thing has its limits, even for Jesus. What about WWJW (Who Would Jesus Walk)? Is there any single player that is so fearless and feared that even the son of God wouldn’t pitch to him? What other baseball variations of WWJD can we come up with?
WWJWTWTWS(Who Would Jesus Want To Win The World Series)?
I still have high hopes that the Braves will come back and win it all…
Well, the Rockies have won their first game and now we’re rooting for the Angels.
Joe,
We are Braves fans also.
Yankees/Indians - Yankees
Red Sox/Angels - Red Sox
Yankees/Red Sox - Red Sox
Rockies/Phillies - Phillies
Cubs/D’backs - Cubs
Cubs/Phillies - Cubs
Cubs/Red Sox - Cubs
Also, great exchange between Larry James and the man at the gas station. Great wisdom/boldness/discernment and let’s not forget - a demonstration how I believe Jesus would respond. Thanks for the link.
Final
Angels 0 Red Sox 4
Finally, a post on something of real importance.
Phillies all the way. If they lose, then I’m pulling for any NL team.
Man, it feels good to speak out on this issue.
My heart says Cubs, but my head says Phillies.
Yankees vs. Indians. Yankees
Angels vs. Red Sox. Red Sox
Rockies vs. Phillies. Phillies
Cubs vs. D’backs. Cubs
Yankees vs. Red Sox. Yankees
Phillies vs. Cubs. Cubs
Cubs vs. Yankees. Yankees!
Sorry, Mike, but what do I know? I picked the Yankees to beat the Dodgers back in April.
It is hard to pick. I lost interest when my team was eliminated.
I really hope the Indians win it all. Cleveland is absolutely starved for a championship. Their city needs this more than any other.
Go Tribe!
Sad times… No baseball in China. But at least basketball season will be in full swing soon and they do televise NBA Games.
Justin, MLB.tv offers an international playoff package for $24.95. Not a bad deal.
Thanks Glenn!
Some solace for Yankee fans:
Yankees ALDS History:
2000 vs. Oakland - Lost Game 1; Won Series
2001 vs. Oakland - Lost Game 1; Won Series
2002 vs. Anaheim - Won Game 1; Lost Series
2003 vs. Minnesota - Lost Game 1; Won Series
2004 vs. Minnesota - Lost Game 1; Won Series
2005 vs. Anaheim - Won Game 1; Lost Series
2006 vs. Detroit - Won Game 1; Lost Series
2007 vs. Cleveland - Lost Game 1; ???
It’s either a trend or a correction begging to happen — I’m hoping for the latter.

When we end poverty, when we undo oppression, when we share economically, we no more people go hungry, when we heal the land, when resolve terrorism, when greed, lust, envy, hate, and pride are a thing of the past - when all of this gets done, then I’d be glad to pick up the conversation on instrumetnal versus acappella worship.
Let me add one more thing - when all of this gets gone, then I’d be glad to pick up the conversation on who will win a baseball game.
How can I trust someone who is this off it predictictions?
