Mike,
I'm in Detroit; my one and only granddaughter lives in Austin, TX. Do you know of any congregations in Austin that would like to have a guest speaker--say once a month (or more)? I wouldn't ask for an honorarium or housing; just travel expenses. Oh, and my wife generally accompanies me on these kinds of speaking engagements. :-)

Dear Coping -

I'm going to guess that it just seems like yesterday that you were holding Reese's grandfather in your arms! Love you. So glad you're still so energetic to hold your great granddaughter. You have so much to offer her.

Erin - I enjoyed our visit a lot. What an amazing thing to look into the bright eyes of your little girl and to think what your love has meant to her! (It probably connected with me in deep ways because of my niece and nephew.)

Mike- It was such an honor to get to meet you last night. (I was the one with the little Vietnamese girl.) As I said, I am a big fan of yours. But, now I am even more of a fan. Your humbleness and sincerity amazed me. Thank you for taking the time out to speak with me when there were 100 million other people wanting to do the same thing.

When my oldest turned 9 last year I had a terrifying moment when I realized the time with him in my home was half up. No time to waste. Every day is precious.

Totally normal, Mike! Being a granddad is over the top, isn't it?

One of the unanticipated benefits is to watch the lights come on in your children's minds, as they realize fully for the first time just how much you loved and love them. Nothing is better!

I am so happy for you!
