Touch-a-Life Ministries

Some of you found my blog today by searching for “touch-a-life” ministries at Google after hearing about it on Oprah. Welcome!

You can read more about it and about the rescue of child slaves in Ghana here.

There is a link on the right column of this blog that will take you there. Thanks so much for your interest in the suffering children of this world.

Please know: this is the real thing. The lives of my brother and my sister-in-law were turned upside down in the summer of 1999 when their 15-year-old son, Jantsen, died suddenly. Their grief — and hope! — have led them on a journey to try to care for hurting children of the world. It began in SE Asia but has since taken them to places like Haiti, Central America, and now, of course, Ghana.

Please also take the time to check out The Village of Hope.

So proud of your brother and sister-in-law! But I’m more excited that the Village of Hope may soon (through all this publicity) get the funds it needs to help even more children who otherwise have no one looking out for them.

And no matter what people think of Oprah, she claims Christ and uses her money to do a lot of good for people in need. I’m so glad she is sharing this story with the world.

Thanks for doing this Mike! I can’t wait to see Oprah today! Thanks for the reminders of all of the distressed children in the world and how one couple even can make a huge difference.

    Mike,

I agree with SG and Dee! Thank you for bringing this work to the attention of many. May God bless those whose hearts are open today when watching Oprah. (I have to admit, I am an Oprah fan.) Blessings to you and your family.

Mike, I pray God be glorified through this wonderful work your brother and family are doing to rescue these babies. And yes, I’ll be watching Oprah long enough to see their segment. Again, may God be glorified and your family’s work expanded in His name!

May many see God today. So many people watch Oprah who are not Christians and may he be glorified today. What an awesome work being done by this group!

I couldn’t wait to get home from work to watch Oprah today. I never watch her but I wanted to see how she would tell this story. Tears were in my eyes as she gave Pam the standing ovation because in my heart I knew it was God being praised. Thank you, Pam for listening to God’s voice and acting!

I too had to come over here and comment after watching Oprah (weeping shamelessly). God bless you, Mama Pam!

Wow. A standing ovation from Oprah. Who says that social justice doesn’t matter to God or the rest of our world? I think this is what people are looking for from Christians: a real demonstration of good news.

Mike, thanks for the heads up on the show. My wife and I watched together.

I love it that Oprah applauded Pam for acting. Pam was hearing the call of God to act and she did. I also think that it was God who moved Pam and Oprah so mightily with the same little boy’s face. My prayer now is that this little boy, Mark, continue to feel God’s hands in his life.

I just knew Pam was a “sister” when I saw Oprah today !! And sure enough she is. I could tell she was a Christian being God’s hands. I recognized the last name as Mike, you were a preacher at College when I was at Harding. I just thought, let me go check his blog and see if it’s a relative. Way to go Pam and Randy. What an example you were to me today.

The best part of the story…Two people both moved to do something about a face that was in their hearts… Two people compassionate to help others…One millionaire, one regular mom. The regular mom found him first! That is an awesome example to all of us “regular moms, “we can make a difference in people’s lives-one at a time. Way to go!
