Thank you, Mike, for your tender, sweet words of comfort and peace at the funeral. Thank you for the wise words at the graveside to "receive everything as a gift" Thank you for leading Tyler's favorite childhood song, "This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it."

I continue to solicit the prayers of all your readers for the Sheets family, an incredible family who have blessed countless people and have spread kingdom seeds literally all over the world.

To the Sheets family:

Thinking of you all today. May God hold you in the hollow of his hand as you mourn and sustain you through the years of missing Tyler.

Mike, Diane, Steve, Jim, Highland family, the list goes on.... We as a family cannot come close to expressing how thankful we are for the love poured out on us. Mike, your message was perfect in its comfort to us and its tribute to Tyler, accurately portraying his life. Thank you all for your shoulders. When Papa suggested to us that you do the funeral, everyone in our family was in absolute agreement, and we were all so thankful to find that you were able to be here in this busy time.

One week ago, Tyler made a CD. Tonight, we sat down to watch the slideshow that friends prepared for Tyler's funeral. We thought the slideshow was a DVD with music, but it was a powerpoint. Landon started Tyler's CD, we used his CD as the soundtrack. This is Tyler's favorite song. When we listened heard this song tonight, we heard his voice through the words. These are his words to us.

I hate to see you cry
Lying there in that position
There's things you need to hear
So turn off your tears
And listen

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No it won't all go the way it should
But I know the heart of life is good

You know, it's nothing new
Bad news never had good timing
But, then your circle of friends
Will defend the silver lining

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No it won't all go the way it should
But I know the heart of life is good

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
Fear is a friend who's misunderstood
But I know the heart of life is good
I know it's good

Mike, Bless you for bringing the pigeons to mind this morning. A beautiful Christmas Season message. Thank you! I agree with Diane, how did you manage to get through the reading of Tyler's last email message to his mom and dad?

Since it was impossible for me to get near you two during communion and missed you after services, my prayers for comfort with accompanying hug were sent with your beautiful wife.

May your Christmas holiday be one of physical, emotional and spiritiual renewal. Praying for safe, uneventful travel for all of you!!

Mike,

I will keep you in prayer today. However, I may not pray for your composure as much as I will for you to have the strength to speak while also expressing your emotion. My dad once told me before preaching a difficult funeral, "If you feel like crying, cry. If you need to break down, break down. Let those who are hurting know it is okay to hurt."

God's blessings be upon you as grieve in the hope of Christ.

Wow! That sounds like a tough one. I'll be praying for you. I know you will do well. For years when I did funerals it seemed like each time I was still burying my father because I spoke from my personal grief. The Lord will speak through your heart to bless this family. Don't be afraid. "So we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. . . . There is no fear in love" (1 John 4:16, 18).

Mike, This is so sad! Of course I'll be praying for you, for travel mercies, and that the LORD grant you your constant prayer for the 'gift of preaching" as you begin to speak to the family and loved ones of this young man. I cry for Highland too as we face yet another young life to mourn, that has been ended at such a tender age.

My heart's prayers for all touched by this tragedy, and for your strength and composure as you speak tomorrow.

In His love, grace and mercy
