I remember reading about those ghanian kids in the nytimes and wondering what in the world I could possibly do to help them. And now you have actually rescued them, which seemed like an impossible task to me. I am deeply impressed and inspired.
Thank you so much!

As I’ve mentioned before on the blog, since their son’s death in 1999 they have been on a mission to provide care for orphans around the world. In the beginning, it was mostly in SE Asia. But that concern has expanded. [...]

Hey, I'm just planning what I'll wear at ACU Lectureship: I'm packing light since I will not need the usual wool coat, galoshes, and mittens. Let's see, pack the sun screen, sun glasses.....

There's always next year, the LORD willing, to travel to Abilene in the fall (?) And, CALIFORNIA in the Spring---yea!! To hear you, & see my kids is the highlight of the year for me.

I'm hoping and praying I'll be able to attend at least part of the ACU Lectureship - but it'll all depend on what info I receive the next few days. I'd marked in my catalog to hear the Jordans, Swimm and Wesley, as well as others but definitely don't want to miss hearing these two dearly loved young people.

As far as Zoe goes, I've never been to Nashville in my life, and suppose this year will not be an exception. ;) I'd so like to hear Lauren Winner but no chance. It would be such a blessing to be able to attend both Zoe and ACUL but am definitely in the 'wait and see' mode. Grrrr

So glad Lauren Winner is speaking. Her REAL SEX book is outstanding. I also read her columns in each issue of Books and Culture. Good choice...

I'll be coming to the lectureship for the first time since I graduated way back in the uh..hmm early 80's. I'm looking forward to it for several reasons, but the primary one is I'm bringing my mom along. She lost her husband and my dad 4 and 1/2 years ago to lung cancer. She is my hero in the faith and a constant blessing to those she is around (though she would be very uncomfortable with me saying such) We look forward to worshipping at Highland sunday morning.

I highly recommend Lauren Winner's books. She may be one of the most thoughtful younger Christian writers we have.
