15 Years

Just a quick note as I head out the door.

Thanks so much to the Highland Church. That was wonderful yesterday. The elders gathered around Diane, Chris, and me and talked about our 15 years at Highland.

It’s been a privilege to Diane and me to be here, to build friendships here, to raise our children here, and to grow in faith here. Thanks especially for remembering Megan. The additional gift to the Megan Cope Scholarship at ACU (building on the gift you began at our 10-year anniversary) goes right to our hearts.

Thanks!

Highland is such an example to Churches of Christ in America. It is so important to the health of a church for the preaching minister to have a long tenure. It also takes mucho patience on the preachers part. May God bless you as you continue your ministry for many more years at Highland!

I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years. It seems like just yesterday both of our families were leaving Searcy. A lot of things have happened since then!! God is good. Happy 15!!

So this is your resignation announcement?

    You’re moving to Boston? What??

I have no doubt that your family have blessed the Highland family as much or more than they have blessed you. I know you blessed my wife and me during our time at Highland far more than we could ever have blessed you.

Keep us updated on the game tonight.

It was beautiful yesterday to share in the celebration with all of you. Even in my short tenure of about a year and a half at Highland, I have been blessed by learning from you and your family both at Highland and here on this blog. You are REAL, and I think that is one of the things that makes you so special and so able for God to use you. You have portrayed love, grace, wisdom, compassion, forgiveness, humor, and your servant’s heart (among other things), and I thank you for that! :) It was also great singing the Lord’s Army!!

By the way, if you need to find that white shirt and black pants, I have heard that Wal-mart & Target are good places to shop ;)

Many MANY blessings and here is to 15+ more years!!

I too am a realtively new member at Highland. In fact, today is the 3rd anniversary of my arrival in Abilene from San Diego.

‘d had a tidbit of preview of the blessing it would be to learn from you and the wonderful fellow Highlanders. But the reality is stunning. Thank You, LORD!

The anniversary celebration was joyful and belly laugh funny. The kids’ book dedicated to you was hilarious. :)

May you, Diane, and Chris remain with us many, many more years. That would be blessings upon blessings for us!!

Mike, Blessings to you and your family as you each have sacrificed and blessed so many here the past fifteen years. You could feel the love in the room yesterday.

Woo hoo! I hope there’s 15 more years for you all.

And I’ll bet Megan will LOVE hearing about the recipients of her scholarship when you finally get to have that long conversation with her in heaven.

    Preacher/Coach Mike,

15 great years that have gone by like a flash . . . glad you have spent them with us. We have been blessed by you and your whole family.

Now, for the rest of you out there . . . #1 sign that Preacher/Coach Mike has finally settled in as a True West Texan . . . (Drumroll, please) . . . was overheard while giving the last bit of advice to batter as he stepped up to the plate during a big inning Saturday night . . . (some in-audible advice) then “. . . alright Reece, Git-er-done”!

    90% sure that’s what I heard
100% sure that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

Good luck tonight, then let’s play two on Tuesday!

I am so glad I was there for part of your tenure. You are still blessing my life, even in Nashville. Hello to Diane.

Highland is blest to have you! Our time at Highland was fabulous and in many ways defining for our spiritual growth!

I continue to deny that the phrase “git-er-done” could have come out of my mouth. :)

Mike, Can’t imagine you have been there 15 years….that means you haven’t been here in a loooong time. We were indeed blessed by our association with all of you during your Searcy days. I enjoy reading your thoughts on your blog. Love to all.
