I note that Mike didn’t immediately come clean on where he had been for this conference…just a reference to an overnight flight, that someone else outed him on. Hawaii, please…way to go Mike….and he’s no fool, Diane did get an invite to this conference!

Lest David, or anyone else thinks my previous comment was serious, IMO, Mike Cope deserves to fly first-class everytime he flies. And especially when Diane is with him!

Okay, here is a redeye flight memory I will treasure forever.
Our family was flying overnight to Brazil last summer with the group from Highland. One of my teenage boys has some pretty serious health concerns and he was having no luck getting sleep. His younger brother was sitting next to him and began to worry about the older one getting sick from fatique. Younger brother spent several hours walking around, standing pretending he was in line for the restroom, sitting in seats where someone had gone to the restroom and curling up on the floor under his brother’s feet, so that his older brother could have two seats and lay down. I was not having as much trouble sleeping, and did not realize how long the younger one did this until the next day.
(Please do NOT mention this if you know my boys, they would be horrified to know this was published in blogland.)

Geof and I once flew through the night to Frankfurt. We thought we were blessed when we were upgraded to business class. Flights back then were still smoking flights. Did you know people smoke in the middle of the night? Talk about miserable.

Chad and I used to take the red eye out of Anchorage in the middle of the night to fly back to Texas. Chad used to pop a couple of Tylenol PMs and he wouldn’t know his name until we touched down in Houston the next day. Not me — I like to stay awake in planes. I guess because if we’re going to crash, I’d like to know about it. Weird, I know.

Ron, I’ve heard the same, and not just from that circle, but a great number of more progressive postmoderns. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the idea that a massive number of people gathered to worship and serve the Lord is a negative, though.
