Mike-
My roommate always liked the guac at Corral Beach Cantina, but I can't speak to its quality myself. I did once see Steven Spielberg there, though.

Have a safe journey to Pepperdine. I went to every class you taught (and every Zoe session) the three years I was there, and wish with all my heart I could go back. You touch people in ways you'll never know, and we are grateful to God for creating leaders like you.

Prayers for a blessed week,
Tiffany Fox

Well, now I'm really homesick for great food after today's post, Mike! Send some of those Mexican cuisine chefs over here to London!!

Glad you're able to be basking in all that Malibu light, and lap up the TLC from Darryl and Anne ... they have that gift of hospitality! Please give them my love (Anne worked with my dad, Lonnie). Have sent them several E-mails, but must have it incorrectly, because I've not heard back. If you have time, please kindly direct them to my Blog, and maybe we can get the correct details that way?

In the meantime, enjoy God's presence and all that fantastic Mexican food to your gastronomical delights!

Blessings -

Mike, my week of unBiblical jealousy is about to begin. As a schoolteacher, I can never get away during mid-May, one of our busiest and most important times of the year. And yet my mother...and sister...and brother-in-law...and nephew(!)...and pretty much every one else at College will be there. Enjoying the weather. Listening to ZOE. And you. Sheesh...is envy really a sin?

For the record, it's through the Lectureships that I first got to hear you speak. Mom would buy your tapes every year and let me listen to them after she got home...and had listened to them herself. It was there that I learned to appreciate your wisdom and insight and gained motivation to develop my own study and teaching skills. You will be blessed in that place, as will those who get to sit at your feet.

Yup, a little envious.

Mike,

Yes, it's a fast-food chain, but Sharky's (through the canyon on Malibu Cyn before you hit the 101) has good guacamole.

But I doubt my standards are as high as yours; living 5 years in the Midwest will remove all such sensibilities. :)

Good luck on the guaco search, there's a great "fresh Mex" place in Costa Mesa called Taco Mesa that serves fresh guaco.

I assume you will be eating at "In-N-Out"--the best fast food burger in the world. But if you really want an off beat SoCal late night gut bomb--you have to eat at "Tommy's Burger". You'll never forget their chili burger!

Mike --

This will be you're 20th trip to the Lectures and my first. I am so excited about going and even more excited that Shawna will be able to join me. I will be doing several "alumni" meetings for ACU but also plan to make room for some lectures. So, any "must eat" places we need to check out??

How wonderful for you - Malibu, the gorgeous Pepperdine campus and the special fellowship! Wow!

Although I'm beginning to appreciate and love Abilene's unique beauty, I must admit to bouts of 'eye hunger' for a dose of California coastal "creation theology" - I refuse to be envious, so will wish I were there and that you were enjoying an even more beautiful experience. ;)

It was at Pepperdine I first heard you speak, which made choosing an Abilene home church a no-brainer. PTL!!

btw - IMHO, the only really good guacamole is the made-at-home type. Yummmmmm!! :>)

Mike,

Be blessed in Malibu! Don't have TOO much fun. If you enjoy seafood there is a wonderful place right off the campus called Malibu Seafood. The Clam Chowder is to die for. Enjoy Zoe for me.
