What a wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing. Have you read “Mudhouse Sabbath” by Lauren Winner? The author talks about several spiritual practices from Judaism that she either misses as a Christian or has incorporated into her Christianity. It is a wonderful book with some great ideas for all of us in our own worship.

What a great reminder-thanks for sharing! And I am definitely glad that Austin and Chris were there to share that special time with you.

We watched Luther last night and there was a quote that really stuck out to me and I had to write it down, and thought I’d share it with you (You’ve probably already seen the movie), but here it is anyway:

“We preach best what we need to learn most”

That just really hit me and I find that to be true in my own life.

Your ability to speak balance is amazing. Deliverance is important but cannot come without bondage. As odd as this might sound - your blog often serves as a bitter reminder that this world is not our home. I have a tendancy to get comfortable in Egypt and God uses you to lead me out to the promised land.

Beaner, I have heard that A Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays is an excellent book that discusses the Jewish holidays and feasts. I have also often wondered why we don’t celebrate some of them as well.

I have always wondered why most Christians don’t celebrate the Passover. It seems (to me) that if Jesus celebrated it, then shouldn’t we too? We could remember that Jesus is OUR Passover lamb & incorporate the Jewish traditions into our Christian ones. Mike, is there a good book to learn more about the Jewish traditions - maybe one that puts a Christian spin on them? I’m very interested in learning more, but slightly intimidated. Thanks for posting this!
