I've been studying creed's in my History of Christian Thought class, (by the way I don't know if Abeline has that class, I think it's the first semester of it at Harding, but it has been literally a life changing class for me that should be required for at least all bible majors) It is sad that they are no longer a major part of us. I know the reasons, and they are great, but a creed, or a "Foundations of Faith" statement is so powerful. It is such a true reminder of who we are, and what is truly important. I would love to be a part of a body that could start a service by repeating something like that, and meaning it. How awesome would that be. This is what we believe, and even more this is who we are!

Mike,
I'd love to talk to you about who and how this statement was formed. What's the best way to get in touch with you?

Mike,

It's too bad that people who believe in 99% of this statement allow the deceiver to fool them into thinking that the phrase:

"The Spirit ... calls and empowers men and WOMEN for various ministries
for building up the Body"

is reason for them to leave the body.

Not trying to stir the pot...just making an observation.

Another quick observation: This has to be one of the most environmentally friendly statements any church is making right now. Just a guess. "Ruining our relationship with - Nature" Wow! You don't hear that everyday.

Thanks for bringing to the forefront, Mike.

I love my church here in Colorado, but I don't think I'll ever be as connected to a church as I am to Highland. Highland (and by this I mean its members and leadership) gave me a new understanding of love and fellowship, along with a glimpse of what heaven will be like. I miss it so much sometimes my heart hurts. How's that for a statement of how a church can affect college students ...

I was going to add "You should really have that on the site at <a HREF="http://www.highlandchurch.org/" rel="nofollow">www.highlandchurch.org</A>" - but I see that you do!

The site looks great! (*Sniff* You obviously don't need me anymore ....)

And I'm delighted to see that there are and will be streaming sermon files.

Thanks for blessing our lives in so many ways.

Mike, I can't imagine a more powerful "Foundations of Faith" statement! Thanks so much for sharing that with all of us. What a blessing it must be to serve with Shepherds and a community of believers that have this common foundational bond.

God bless all of you brothers and sisters at Highland!
