Okay, so I just started reading your blog today. I don't why it has taken me so long to get on, but I am touched by all your thoughts. I especially enjoyed your comments about Valentine's Day. They made me smile because yours and Diane's marriage has always been a testimony to me. You're still like second parents to me! :) And I will always think of Chris as another little brother. Thank you for sharing your family with me for so many years. I love you!
My Dear Crista -

Thanks for the note, sweetie. Glad you went to Ozark Christian last night. And now a question for you: How can you leave a post at 10:29 a.m. since YOU'RE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL (for 3 more months).

I've been reading Larry James's blog since you recommended it and it is so awesome. I'm careful to read it only when I can handle it, but that seems to be everyday.

Hey Unlce Mike, I went to the thing at OCC last night and it was awesome. My youth minister's cousin was the speaker for the adult session, so all of our youth group skipped out on the teen session and went to the adult one. Even though the speaker, John Weece, was very good, I really wish that you could've been there! It would've been so good to see you. I am thinking about going there (OCC), so are a lot of people in my youth group...so we'll see. Sorry, this kinda went a long with yesterday's blog, but I didn't read it until today. I love you and give my cousin a kiss for me.

I too have been a faithful reader of Larry's blog. He is a daily voice inside my head and an encouragement to me to be Jesus to everyone, not just those in my life circumstances. A few weeks ago he pointed out the scripture that tells us that the poor will always be with us...hard to swallow and understand, but good stuff. There's no fluff here! He doesn't just complain about the poor and homeless, he offers hope and solutions and gut punches when we need them. Kind of like you Mike! Thanks to you both for challenging me to be a better person.

I just got back from Barnes and Noble with Jim Wallis' book "God's Politics" in hand.

Due to your recommendation a month ago, I have been a Larry James faithful blog fan since that day. He writes incredibly powerful words I believe are straight from God. He stokes the fire within me to take up a strong position for the poor not just here in America but around the world. My prayer is that this is the beginning of a movement for the global poor that will be bigger than King's civil rights movement.

I have seen Larry's link on your Blog page, but today is the first time I have clicked on it. Thanks for the much needed kick in the gut, I'm going to go get some spiritual ice to ease the swelling, but I will continue to go to his site to never forget the pain that for many is caused and could also be prevented by the church, apart of which I claim to belong and have been added to. Thanks Mike for your continued example and keeping your spiritual ear to the ground. Continued prayer for your family and the others, as well.
