Mike,

Being a youth minister and a parent of four, I can only imagine how the accident your son was involved in has impacted your family and the family of God at Highland. I know countless people are praying for all those who have been touched by this event. Certainly there has been tremendous sorrow felt from the injuries and loss caused by the accident. At the same time, it is amazing to witness, even from far away, how God is causing good things from such a disaster. May our amazing Father continue to surround your family, and all those who are hurting now, with His comforting Spirit. May He bring peace, healing, and joy from the ashes of pain.
** Incidently, I grew up in the house of Nana H. (posted a note on 1/31) Let me assure you that her vote to bring the dog inside stands as proof that miracles still happen. Dog hair never crossed the threshold of any door in our house!

Because of God's incredible grace,

Steve Holladay

Mike-
Still praying daily for you. Can't wait to lay eyes on you in a couple of weeks.

Justin--
WOW! What a cool comment. Thank you for taking such great care of Chris. You were the hands of Jesus that day.

Mr. Cope,
My name is Justin Rhodes and I was the medic on scene that attended to Chris. My family and I were coming home to San Angelo from Dallas when we saw the accident. I am a FireFighter/paramedic and new that I needed to help. I have experienced the craziest ups and downs the past few weeks. People like me get into this job so that we have the possibility to help others. People fail to realize the effect these types of situations have on the Emergancy response personnel. I started praying for Chris the moment that I pulled up on scene. My concern for him grew daily and I felt so much pain inside. Through your web page I have been able to cope with everything that is going on. I am so thankful that we were there in that moment of time. We are praying daily for your family and that Chris and the others would have a quick recovery. Sincerely
Justin Rhodes

Mike, you don't know me, but your mother-in-law does. Your wife and her sisters might even remember our daughter Andrea Holladay. She and JoAnn are the same age and were in Bible classes together at Cuyahoga Falls, OH years ago.
Add my vote for letting the dog in the house. It might do the boy and the dog a world of good. If you have to have "supervised visits", so be it.

Dear Mike,

I hold a fondness in my heart for you and your family, as we share the same hometown. You may or may not remember me, but you know my mother Susan.

I'm so sorry for the grief and anguish you are experiencing now. I'm a member of and secretary for Memorial Road church of Christ in Edmond, OK. I'm sure you've heard of our van accident last June which injured many of our teens.

I write to tell you that you and your family are prayed for countless times per day. I offer you no advice... I offer you no wisdom... But I do thank you for the fine example of faith you've set for all those who witness it. Reading your "bedtime" words for your son reminded me to stop taking my two-year old for granted, and to thank the Lord every day that He has blessed my life with such a lovely being.

Thank you for your witness of His steadfastness...

Mike..
What a gift from God! I love your comments about Moses. I have one comment for you! You mentioned Moses is really big... but what fun for Chris (and Moses), if you secretly take Moses to get a bath, bring him home, and let him STAY INSIDE? Just for a little while? Is he SO BIG, that he may jump up and be too rough? We have a family dog that spends most of her time in the back yard...but on special occasions, we bath her, bring her inside, and love all over her!
Just food for thought! Bite the bullet!

Mike, don't even get me started on the blessing of dogs!
Truth is, I wish more people could be as good a friend as dogs are! :) I am so thankful Chris has Moses, and vice-versa. Every boy needs a dog.

We are still praying for Chris.
Love all of you,
DU

In the days following the death of Chad's sister in '92 -- along with all the grief and shock we were dealing with, it was absolutely heartwrenching to watch Emily, Gina's bull mastiff, lie around grieving. The dog knew she wasn't coming home. This usually hyper dog would come up and lay her head in our laps -- wanting to get comfort and give it at the same time. God gives us some great companions in these animals! I'm glad Moses found the Copes.
