This page took awhile to load, so i dont know if anyone else posted before I got the chance to type this up...

I wanted to say that I'm glad everyone is doing better. Also, I can't believe what our society is comming to.. more emphasis on television than God.

Mike and Diane,

Time and space are so insignificant in God's world. We have been hurting for you, praying for you and rejoicing with you in the past couple of weeks. Diane, I so appreciate you teaching me to take my concerns to God and to talk to him about anything I need. I remember praying with you for Chris before he was born. He was a precious gift to you then and, praise God, he has been given to you again. The Lord is faithful and he loves his children. May he bless you with peace and healing.

Love,

Patty

Mike,
When I read about the accident and saw Chris' name, I remembered a passing encounter at Hendrick eleven or so years ago when I was preaching out at Roscoe. You and Diane were there late in the evening on one of several hospitalizations with another child who is now with Jesus. I thought then how strong the Lord must be to carry you through -- I may have said something like that in passing.
I'm thankful that he's still that strong, and thankful for the encouraging prognosis for Chris, though a 12 year-old probably would define "encouraging" a bit differently.
Blessings,
Terry

Mike,
I'm so excited about the unity movement you're involved in among the Restoration movement. Praise God!!! But what I am more excited about is the unity movement in
Abilene, TX that God initiated through the tragedy of the car accident. The first is breaking down walls among groups who looks similar anyway. The latter is breaking down walls between groups whose common denominator is JESUS! This is what's exciting! This is the kind of unity movement I long to be apart of. I pray that the communities of faith who are coming together because of the tragedy, their leadership (including Highland) will envision ways to further this unity of God's Kingdom as a whole!!!!

Mike,

I wish there was a way we could share all the
acts of kindness shown this past two weeks not only from Highland but from people all over Abilene and across the nation. The healing services, counseling sessions, food, cards, e-mails, and phone calls are but a few. There is a story behind each one of these acts.
As you know, we are newcomers to Highland and the Abilene community and we cannot believe the love and concern shown to us and especially our son. Although he was not involved in the accident, he was one of the 7 who witnessed the accident.

Our family is lifting up everyone involved in prayer, everyday. We pray especially that God give you and each family the strength to carry on. We also believe that this is a spiritual battle and pray that everyone remember that "the battle belongs to the Lord."

As I think about this very life changing event, I am reminded of the song by Lanny Wolfe, "God's Family"...

"We're part of the family that been born again;
Part of the family whose love knows no end;
For Jesus has saved us and made us His own,
Now we're part of the family that's on its way home."

"When a brother meets sorrow we all feel his grief;
When he's passed thru the valley we all feel relief;
Together in sunshine, together in rain,
Together forever thru his precious name."

"And tho some go before us, we'll all meet again;
Just inside the city as we enter in;
There'll be no more parting, with Jesus we'll be
Together forever, God's family."

CHORUS:
"And sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we cry;
Sometimes we share together heartaches and sighs;
Sometimes we dream together of how it will be
When we all get to heaven, God's family."

In Him,

Joe, Becky and Lucas Almanza

To Mike and family,

Want you to know your First Central Presbyterian Church sisters and brothers continue to pray. We have not had a single gathering since the accident when we have not prayed for you, your family and your church. No easy answers, but behind the darkest of clouds the Son is shining.

I have truly been blessed and humbled by the way I have seen this tragic event bring healing and comfort, as well as unity to a community of faith. Continued blessings to your family, as well as those who have been affected by this event. May that which has shaped our hearts continue to reshape this community of Christ followers.

Thank you for your posts and the sharing of your thoughts during this time, and always.
