Someone passed on to me a blooper from a church in Arizona. They were using their church bulletin to encourage people to attend the Pepperdine lectureship. They listed all the theme speakers, spelling all of them correctly except for one of my buddies. They meant to print Rubel Shelly, but it came out Rebel Shelly. And this is from his friends!!

It may have been a blooper, but I have heard some malicious comments a time or two from “brethern” who consider Rubel to be “the” Rebel.

I’m afraid you’re right. Someone dropped me a note and said he knew someone who spoke of a brotherhood rubellion.
I’ve worked closely with Rubel since 1992. I’ve seen him minister to people at Woodmont Hills, I’ve joined in as he prayed, I’ve watched his courage and his faith from up close.
He’s an incredible man of God. ‘Nuff said.

Amen to that. I have been reading his writings for some time, and have heard him speak on several occassions, and have conversed some with him via e-mail. He is first class in my book too!
